Tony Tuna: Every last day of school of every year

We all remember the day we set foot on campus for our very first day of high school. Since then, the past three years seem to have just flown by in an instant. We’ve worked hard and made new friends, but now it’s all finally coming to an end as school is winding down and we are getting ready to graduate. It is an overwhelming feeling to be a senior, and after this year our lives will hopefully change for the better as we either go off to college or take a different path forward into our adult lives.
To the graduating seniors from Pompano Beach High School, class of 2009, I wish you the very best on your endeavor into adulthood and hope for a promising and prosperous future.

Imagine your best friend breaking down over a broken relationship or problems at home. He or she then thinks they see no other way to cope with the relationship other than methods of self mutilation. The only thing you can think to do is worry for her life. Teenagers are prone to taking their own lives because they are convinced that suicide will answer to the root of all of their problems. “Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds,” according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

    The aftermath of suicide hurts all the people you have ever touched or helped. It tears your family apart. It becomes an unsolved mystery as to what would have become of you. Ultimately, suicide only causes suffering for your loved ones because of the choice you make.

 There are more organizations available out there than you think. No one wakes up in the morning and says, “I’m going to commit suicide today,” unless that person is tired and fed up with the life they are living. There is help available for people who encounter this situation. There is hope for the hopeless. Many young lives with so much potential are ruined before they ever get the chance to experience all that life has to offer. The main causes of suicide in teens are stress and depression.
